WHAT HAPPENED AT LREC THIS YEAR?
ENGINEERING
Our senior students benefited from an introduction to engineering, generously offered by international volunteer Grant Clark. The training equipped 32 students and youths from the Duazon community with technical knowledge and practical experience, opening doors to careers in Liberia’s growing infrastructure and technology sectors.
NEW UNIFORM DESIGN
This year, we introduced a refreshed high school uniform at LREC, thoughtfully redesigned with student comfort and climate in mind. Featuring short-sleeved shirts and blouses, flexible skirts for ease of movement, and collared blouses to align with our elementary look, the updated design helps students stay cool and confident throughout the school day. The new uniform reflects our commitment to student wellbeing while reinforcing a strong sense of school pride.
DAVID GBANJAH, STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT
The election of our new Student Council President, David Gbanjah, was an important step in strengthening student voice at LREC. Through a clear and fair democratic process, students took an active role in school decision-making, gaining valuable experience in leadership, responsibility, and representing their peers.
ANNUAL CAREER DAY
Our annual career day program provided students with the opportunity to explore a diversity of career paths and engage directly with industry leaders. Our sincere appreciation goes to each of the professionals who dedicated their time to speak with our students, offering guidance and inspiration for their future endeavours
CLASS LEAGUES
The culmination of our annual Class Leagues saw Grade 9 emerge as champions. These inter-class competitions are instrumental in promoting healthy rivalry, encouraging teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among all participants, contributing to a well-rounded educational experience.
NATIONAL DEBATE LEAGUE
Our school's debate team proudly represented Margibi County at the National Debate Championship. This remarkable achievement not only showcased the exceptional critical thinking and public speaking skills of our students but also instilled in them a profound sense of accomplishment and the confidence to articulate their perspectives on a national stage.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
We would like to express our gratitude to all the organisations and individuals who have supported our school in their various ways, be it donations, training, resources, or volunteering! To those who have asked to remain anonymous, you know who you are, and we are thankful for your support.
HIGHLIGHTS
LREC PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION (SCIENCE LAB FIT-OUT)
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for their renovation of our science laboratory. The upgraded facility now provides a more effective and engaging environment for hands-on learning in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and offers improved resources to help students prepare for the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
THE DEAR FOUNDATION SWITZERLAND (CAFETERIA ROOF)
Thanks to the generous support of The DEAR Foundation Switzerland, we were able to commence the replacement of our school roof. The cafeteria, walk-way and storage room are now complete, and we hope to complete the main building at the end of the 2025 rainy season (Nov-Dec). We are still seeking donations to complete this project. If you can help, please head to our donate page!
UNIVERSAL OUTREACH FOUNDATION (SCHOLARSHIPS)
Thanks once again to the incredible team at Universal Outreach Foundation, Strive, and all their supporters who made 9 scholarships available for TVET students at LREC and 1 in our elementary division.
ORANGE FOUNDATION (CHRISTMAS CHEER!)
The Orange Foundation brought holiday joy to LREC by celebrating Christmas with us, distributing thoughtful gifts to our students. This heart-warming gesture not only brightened the holiday season but also reminded our school community that education is a collective mission – one that calls on the care and support of the whole society.
CHERI & ORANGE (STUDENT Wellness CHECKS)
Through a partnership between the Center for Healthcare Education, Research and Innovation (CHERI) and the Orange Foundation, students at LREC received free health check-ups, followed by engaging health awareness sessions designed to promote lifelong wellness habits. We extend our sincere gratitude to both organizations for their commitment to prioritizing our students' health and well-being.
Rep. SAMUEL ENDERS (PROJECTOR)
We were pleased to welcome Representative Samuel Enders to LREC, where he met with senior students for a meaningful discussion on career development. His generous support—including a contribution to the senior class project and the donation of a projector for our computer lab—provided both practical resources and encouragement as students work toward their goals and build digital skills for the future.
YOUTH MOVEMENT & DEMOCRACY INTERNATIONAL (CIVICS TEXTBOOKS)
Through a partnership of Youth Movement and Democracy International, we received a donation of Civics textbooks that will strengthen our students’ understanding of their rights, responsibilities, and role in society. These resources support the development of informed, engaged citizens with a deeper appreciation for democratic values and civic participation.
CHESTER MENYOUNGAI (CLASSROOM SUPPLIES)
We commend student Chester Menyoungai of our junior class (Grade 11) for his thoughtful donation of basic classroom supplies, including whiteboard markers and cleaning tools to the school. This laudable act of student-led philanthropy showcases the spirit of responsibility and collective care we strive to instil in our students, demonstrating their ability to contribute positively to their learning environment.
MANNEKA (BOOKs)
We thank the Manneka Organization for donating over 50 storybooks to our school. The books have been carefully catalogued and added to our library, giving students greater access to reading materials. This valuable contribution supports literacy, encourages reading habits, and strengthens our overall learning environment.
